Mary Jane's Story
Life
I took the buyout from the school district in 2007, and got on with the rest of my life. In 2009 I moved to Phoenix to be close to my son and grandson. That was one of my better decisions in my life. Today is Ground Hog Day and the temperature is 80 degrees. You don't have to shovel sunshine.
For fun I play with fire. I spin poi (see the pics) and do fire fan dancing (no pics yet). And, although we don't make it every year, when we can we make the pilgrimage home to Burning Man. I'm very active in the Arizona Burner community and participate in events year round - No Pants Light Rail Ride, ...Expand for more
Idiotarod (a shopping cart race), Brides of March, Hundred Daze, Santarchy, Holidaze, numerous parades and festivals, and, of course, Saguaro Man, our Arizona Regional Burn.
I had my first art class after I retired from teaching. Who knew you could learn how to create art? It has become a mainstay in my life. I enjoy acrylics and mixed media. Most recently, I have been focusing on resin paintings. In my spare time, I enjoy desert hiking, art shows, festivals, and desert hiking.
I'm looking forward to our 50th class reunion this summer. (How can we possible be old enough to have a 50th reunion?)
